Purpose and Mission
Franchise Reality Check™ is an independent investigative publication dedicated to providing transparent, evidence-based analysis of franchise systems. Its purpose is to help prospective and current franchisees understand the legal, financial, and operational realities of franchise ownership through examination of primary source documents and verifiable public records.
Franchise Reality Check™ exists to close the information gap between franchisors and franchise buyers by analyzing the same documents franchisors use to sell franchises, but from the buyer’s perspective.
All published content is created in the public interest and is protected under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article II § 22 of the Oklahoma Constitution.
Source Materials and Evidence Standards
Franchise Reality Check™ relies on primary source documentation whenever possible. These sources include, but are not limited to:
• Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs)
• Franchise Agreements and related contracts
• Federal and state court filings
• Regulatory filings and government records
• SEC filings and investment disclosures
• Franchisee communications and correspondence
• Financial statements and due diligence materials
• Public statements made by franchisors, executives, or their representatives
• Verified firsthand observations
Whenever possible, conclusions are based on documentary evidence rather than opinion alone. Franchise Reality Check™ does not rely on anonymous allegations without corroborating documentation.
Analytical Framework
Franchise Reality Check™ uses a proprietary investigative framework to analyze franchise systems. This framework includes structured review of:
• Financial disclosure practices
• Franchisee fee structures and revenue streams
• Supply chain relationships and vendor arrangements
• Litigation history and legal exposure
• Franchisee turnover and system stability
• Disclosure consistency across multiple years
• Conflicts between marketing claims and official disclosures
• Contractual control provisions and termination rights
• Operational risk allocation between franchisor and franchisee
This methodology was developed through direct franchise ownership experience, legal document analysis, and investigative research. The analytical framework itself constitutes proprietary intellectual property.
Editorial Independence
Franchise Reality Check™ is an independent publication.
Franchise Reality Check™ does not accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage, suppression of negative findings, or alteration of investigative conclusions.
Financial support through consulting services, donations, or advertising does not influence investigative findings or editorial conclusions.
All investigative conclusions are made independently.
Use of Research and Analytical Tools
Franchise Reality Check™ uses modern research tools to review and analyze large volumes of documentation efficiently. These tools may include:
• Document analysis software
• Financial analysis tools
• Legal research databases
• Public records databases
• Artificial intelligence–assisted research tools
These tools assist with document organization, summarization, and research efficiency.
All investigative conclusions, interpretations, and editorial judgments are independently developed and verified by Franchise Reality Check™. Artificial intelligence tools do not independently conduct investigations, draw conclusions, or publish findings.
Franchise Reality Check™ retains full editorial control and responsibility for all published content.
Accuracy and Verification
Franchise Reality Check™ makes every effort to ensure factual accuracy at the time of publication.
Because franchise systems are dynamic and disclosures may change, new information may emerge after publication. When credible new information becomes available, Franchise Reality Check™ may update or supplement prior reports.
Errors, if identified, will be corrected promptly. Franchise systems or representatives who believe factual errors exist may submit documented evidence for review to justfacts@franchiserealitycheck.com.
Opinions and Interpretations
Published content may include investigative findings, interpretations, and opinions derived from documented evidence. Opinions are based on analysis of disclosed facts, contractual terms, financial disclosures, and documented conduct. Readers are encouraged to review source materials independently and conduct their own due diligence.
Nothing published by Franchise Reality Check™ constitutes legal, financial, or investment advice.
